The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) will hold a training course on Principles of Tuberculosis Care and Prevention: Translating Knowledge to Action, from 17-26 September 2018, in New Delhi, India.

This course has been developed to drive the way towards TB elimination. Health professionals need to understand the principles of TB care, control and prevention and require the skills to manage patients and work with national tuberculosis programmes. Originally developed 20 years ago, this course delivers the latest information about the care and prevention of TB.

This course provides the knowledge and skills senior programme staff and other health professionals need to improve the management of TB and to strengthen programmatic practices. It has pre-course online, classroom and field components.

Course Objectives:

To understand the bacteriological and epidemiological basis of effective TB patient care and programme management

To understand transmission of TB bacilli and pathogenesis of tuberculosis

To understand diagnosis and treatment of TB infection and disease, including drug-resistant tuberculosis

To record, report, analyse and use data on TB case finding and treatment for decision-making at all levels of healthcare

To work collaboratively with various healthcare programmes and providers to further strengthen quality patient care and programme management

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for specialists, medical and clinical officers, nurses, laboratory technicians, monitoring and evaluation officers, TB and HIV/AIDS, and non-communicable diseases and tobacco control programme staff and health policy and decision makers, who are primarily working in low- and middle-income countries.

Accreditation:

Union Courses participants are eligible to earn continuing education units (CEU) and continuing medical education (CME). Union Courses are accredited by both the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP).
